I just arrived the UK about a week ago. And it’s been a really exhausting experience trying to adjust to this new normal. Back home, I had my mom and siblings or Creche providers who helped me care for my son but I’ve been on nanny duty since I arrived here and I’m honestly exhausted.

The day I arrived England; at the airport.

All my life I have been busy. After graduating in 2013 October, I got a job in January 2014 and since then I’ve always had a job. Always been occupied with something. I resigned from my previous workplace on the 31st of May and arrived the UK on the 4th of June and since then I’ve been stuck with this little man. It’s been crazy. He’s quite a handful and It’s been a whirlwind of emotions trying to adjust to this new life. This one time I have to really rest and have fun and I have to spend it attending to the whims and demands of a 21 month old. It’s quite sad. Regardless though, it has helped me bond with him. He has grown more attached and more fond of me. Doesn’t stop him from being annoying though lol 😂.

I’m currently on self isolation (it’s my eighth day today). I have used the past few days to try different recipes; Stir-fries and sauces especially.

I have also been eating a lot of junk, thanks to my husband’s sweet-tooth. Hopefully I don’t gain so much weight.

Lately, I have had a few mood swings. Especially caused by the boredom, change in environment and anxiety about thinking about what the future holds. Do I continue practicing Human Resources or do I pursue a career in human physiology with my degree? Would have loved the latter but the thought of starting afresh is demoralizing. I mean, my career in Human Resources so far is quite impressive. Even though I didn’t totally love it. It’s just scary starting afresh.

Gosh I loved my previous job🥺

So I tried to start job hunting a few days ago but I just had to stop because it was causing me so much mental exhaustion and confusion about what’s really best for me right now, and what I really want to do career-wise (career seems to be the only thing I think about lol). I spoke to my husband about it and he agrees I should just take a pause and really rest before going all out. But by next week I may have decided what to do and I’ll start job hunting again by then. Miss me with this house-wife/nanny nonsense lol 😂 we’ll figure out what to do with my son once I get a job.

Lol a day after I arrived, I started a skincare routine. It ended that day lol. Was too mentally exhausted to continue 🤪

    Hello #iyaafinrita,
Good to know you got to the UK safely. I think you should do more of resting at this time not to experience burnout as you made mention of ‘exhausted’ like 4 times in your story.
I suggest you relax as your mental wellness is more important than every other thing, so take it easy #iyaafinrita 😍😍

Nice one Riri. I support your job hunting, get that job first then figure out what to do about your baby. There will always be a way out, because with the way you are already feeling boredom, you may not be able to cope staying at home.
