This is a story about my recent conversion and repentance from a lukewarm eye-service Christianity to a new-found love and devotion to God.

It all started with a difficult time I faced at the start of 2023. It was so hard that it jolted me back to the reality that I need God. God is my everlasting source and I need Him to survive. Prior to this time, my husband and I had not been to church for two years due to our individual churches being so far away from us. Initially too, for the past four years of our marriage we had been attending separate churches. And so to foster our relationship with God and to keep each other’s devotion to God in check, we decided to attend church together.

Gradually, I became more aware of God and even though my relationship with God wasn’t perfect, I was aware of Him and I wanted more. I started to streamline my social media by following and interacting mostly with Christian content. My music also shifted to purely Christian music. Music that edified my spirit. These helped me greatly. All that time spent on social media or listening to music was mostly spent learning about God, worshipping him, and growing to love him.

The more I went to church too, the more I knew about God and the more eager I got to be a better Christian. It also dawned on me that I had been a weak Christian. I hardly prayed or fasted. I realised that all these years I had been coasting along the earth, allowing things happen to me. Very meekly embracing whatever life threw at me including mediocrity, laziness, procrastination, anxiety. It was such a wake up call for me realising how powerful prayer is. And so I decided to pray. I started spending time with God in prayer everyday and studying my bible everyday. The more I learnt about God from the bible, the more I learnt to love him. God is good indeed.

In addition to these, I spent loads of time watching inspiring preachers of God on YouTube. Their preaching helped me build up so much faith in God.

God is wonderful to those who love him. I pray everyone comes to know God and love him. He created us and deserves all of our worship and praise. Also, we Christians need to take our relationship with God very seriously. Obey God’s commandments and stop the lukewarm Christianity. May God help us all. Amen.
