We keep thinking; “my friend is this and that”, “she has achieved this and that”, “she has this and that”, “what have I achieved?”
My dear, the fact that you’re taking baby steps doesn’t mean that you’re not moving at all. Stop comparing yourself to other people. You’re different. You were created differently. Your purpose on Earth is totally different. Comparing yourself to others is almost like comparing a fish to a cow. We all have different capacities, different levels of strength and intelligence, different desires and talents. So focus on yourself and work towards building your own self.
If you want to keep dwelling on self-pity, why don’t you think about the orphans who saw themselves through school, or the numerous deaf and dumb people who are graduating from university each year, how about those on crutches and wheel chairs. Have you though about how hard life must be for them? How about the ones who have been unemployed for ten years? How about the spill over students who struggle each year to graduate even though their own mates graduated five years ago.
The fact that people wear nice clothes doesn’t mean that they do not have problems. The fact that people smile doesn’t mean they have nothing to cry about. Although I crack jokes and dance a lot, it doesn’t mean I have achieved the things I desire.
Every one has baggage, all that matters is your approach to life and what you do in the face of these problems. Do you loose hope and cry yourself to sleep each day, or do you think and make plans. Figure a way out of whatever mess you find your self in and find a way to survive. We Africans are known for our ability to thrive even in hard situations. So sit up and plan your way out. Don’t just sit there doing nothing, Think.

Although we are all different, the key to success remains the same. To succeed, you ought to work hard, plan wisely, spend money wisely, be consistent and focused, and avoid negative vibes. Each day, make conscious efforts to be successful.

Although the world may throw stones at you, use them to build bridges which would help you cross to the brighter side.

Rather than turn to depression, divert your frustration into something concrete which would yield positive results. The world would not give you success on a platter of gold. You have to work really hard to earn it.
